Savvy Academy to host game dev IP masterclass

Savvy Academy, an initiative of Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group, will host a free masterclass on intellectual property in game development on October 28, 2026, at CODE headquarters in Riyadh.
Titled Own Your Game: Intellectual Property for Game Creators, the session will run from 6pm to 8pm and feature Rafael Ferraz Vazquez from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The masterclass will explore how game developers, artists, designers and studio founders can protect their work, manage intellectual property rights and avoid legal risks when creating and commercialising games.
The session will cover copyright, trademarks, patents and licensing, using practical examples and real-world cases to explain their relevance to game development and publishing.
Topics will include the risks of using protected content without permission, the unauthorised copying of game assets and the importance of securing rights to original creative work.
The event forms part of Savvy Academy's Masterclass programme, a series of talks and workshops connecting Saudi Arabia's gaming and esports community with industry professionals and specialists from international organisations.
Previous sessions have addressed artificial intelligence in game development, game monetisation, user interface design, worldbuilding and game audio.
The October 28 masterclass will be delivered in English, with participants able to attend in person at CODE headquarters or join remotely through Microsoft Teams.
Attendance is free, but registration is required. Participants can sign up through the Savvy Academy website, selecting either in-person or online attendance.
Savvy Academy is part of Savvy Games Group, a company owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, and provides training programmes aimed at developing talent across the games and esports industries.
