Karl Magnus Troedsson, former General Manager of DICE and former VP of Group Strategy at Electronic Arts

Abu Dhabi Gaming is bringing together developers, studios, investors and other members of the UAE games industry for the latest edition of Abu Dhabi Gaming Connect, taking place on Thursday, September 24 at Sandstorm Studio on Yas Island.

Connect is a recurring Abu Dhabi Gaming initiative designed to bring together studios, developers and talent from across the local ecosystem for networking and discussions with figures from the wider global games industry.

This edition will feature a session titled “Funding the Game,” focused on the financing options available to game founders and how studios can determine which sources of capital best fit their stage, business model and ambitions.

The session will be led by Ali Farha, Investment Associate at Behold Ventures, alongside Karl Magnus Troedsson, founding partner of Behold Ventures. Farha brings experience spanning game production, technology and investment, and currently works with the specialist games venture capital firm on supporting studios and their growth.

Troedsson is a former General Manager of DICE and former VP of Group Strategy at Electronic Arts, with a career connected to franchises including Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront and Mirror’s Edge. He is now a founding partner at Behold Ventures, which invests in early-stage European games companies.

Following the funding session, attendees will have the opportunity to network with Farha, Troedsson and members of Abu Dhabi’s growing games community. The event is scheduled to run from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM on September 24, with places limited and registration required.

The event comes as Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a regional base for game development and games businesses, with Abu Dhabi Gaming supporting studios, publishers, investors and talent establishing and expanding their presence in the emirate.
