Qatar Museums unveils racing game with Google Cloud

Qatar Museums has unveiled a new immersive racing game developed with Google Cloud that will allow players to explore the country's museums, heritage sites and public art.
Called Qatar Museums Grand Rally, the game was previewed during the Google Cloud Summit Doha this week and is currently in development ahead of a wider launch.
The project combines virtual racing with cultural experiences inspired by locations across Qatar, using gaming as a way for players to discover the country's museums, collections and landmarks.
Qatar Museums said Grand Rally will include racing simulations alongside photorealistic 3D gallery tours and other interactive experiences, creating a digital environment that brings together entertainment and cultural storytelling.
The project has been developed with Google Cloud, with the technology company's cloud infrastructure supporting the digital experience. Grand Rally was presented at Google Cloud Summit Doha as one of the projects demonstrating the use of cloud technology in Qatar.
Google Cloud also highlighted the Qatar Museums project as part of its latest activity in the country, describing the experience as an interactive gaming portal designed to provide new ways of engaging with Qatar's cultural heritage.
Qatar Museums said the project reflects its efforts to make culture more accessible through technology and to explore new formats for reaching audiences beyond traditional museum experiences.
Grand Rally was demonstrated during the summit, although the full experience has not yet been publicly released.
Members of the Qatar Museums digital experience team have described Grand Rally as an immersive game currently in development and said it will launch soon. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
The project was also recognised during the summit, with Qatar Museums receiving an award from Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for its work on the digital experience.
Grand Rally adds gaming to Qatar Museums' wider use of digital technology to showcase the country's art, heritage and cultural destinations, while also providing another example of major organisations in the region experimenting with games as a platform for reaching new audiences.
Qatar has been increasing its focus on gaming and interactive entertainment alongside wider investment in its digital and creative industries, with government organisations and technology companies looking to develop local talent and attract international businesses to the market.
