Exel by Merak and Saudi Gamer sign partnership
Saudi gaming accelerator Exel by Merak and Saudi Gamer have signed a partnership aimed at supporting a more connected gaming ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was announced by both organisations on LinkedIn, with Saudi Gamer describing it as an MOU signing and a “Diamond Partnership”.
The partnership will bring together Exel by Merak’s work with gaming founders and Saudi Gamer’s reach across the Kingdom’s gaming community.
Exel by Merak operates as a gaming accelerator focused on supporting startups and founders in the sector. Its programme provides participating companies with mentorship, access to industry expertise and opportunities to connect with investors and other parts of the gaming ecosystem.
The accelerator is backed by Saudi investment firm Merak Capital, which launched a $80 million gaming fund in 2024 as part of its activity in the Kingdom’s games industry.
Saudi Gamer, meanwhile, is a Saudi gaming media and content platform covering video games and the wider gaming industry for Arabic-speaking audiences.
The company produces gaming news, reviews, video content and other programming across its website and social media channels.
In announcing the agreement, the two organisations highlighted gaming founders, players, storytelling and creative opportunities as areas contributing to the development of Saudi Arabia’s gaming sector.
They also positioned the partnership within the wider ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and the continued development of the Kingdom’s gaming industry.
Saudi Arabia has placed games and esports among the sectors targeted for development under its National Gaming and Esports Strategy, which aims to establish the Kingdom as a major global centre for the industry.
The Exel by Merak and Saudi Gamer partnership adds another link between the investment and startup side of Saudi Arabia’s gaming ecosystem and the country’s gaming media and community.
Specific initiatives or programmes that will be delivered through the partnership have not yet been announced.
