Abu Dhabi Gaming will host Finnish games industry executive Joni Lappalainen at its next AD Gaming Connect event on October 29, with a session focused on building and managing sustainable game development studios.

The event, titled How to Build and Run a Gaming Studio in 2027, will take place at Sandstorm, Yas Creative Hub, Abu Dhabi, from 4pm to 8pm.

Lappalainen is CEO of Finnish game developer Dreamloop Games and Chairperson of the Finnish Game Developers Association. He also serves as Vice President of Tampere Game Hub and Showrunner of the Finnish Game Incubator.

The session will explore the practical challenges of establishing and running a game studio, offering insights for founders, developers and aspiring studio leaders looking to build sustainable businesses.

Lappalainen has worked on more than 30 shipped game projects and helped over 40 studios bring their titles to platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

He has also spent nine years leading IGDA Tampere, gaining experience in supporting developer communities and strengthening Finland's independent games industry.

His involvement with the Finnish Game Incubator and Tampere Game Hub adds a further focus on helping emerging studios navigate game production, commercial development and the challenges of bringing titles to market.

The session will give Abu Dhabi-based developers an opportunity to learn from Finland's established games industry, particularly in areas such as studio management, business sustainability and international publishing.

AD Gaming Connect brings together developers, studio founders and other gaming professionals through industry-focused sessions and networking opportunities.

The October edition will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage with Lappalainen and connect with other members of Abu Dhabi's gaming community.

Registration is available through the official AD Gaming Connect event page.
